Of course we’re all excited to see RI’s new cases numbers declining, deaths are slowing (finally), and for better or worse the vaccine roll-out continues with some hiccups, but when does anyone expect smooth implementations in Rhode Island.
The biggest win may be for working parents who have had to maneuver through nearly an entire year of remote learning. That’s been a trial by fire. We can all agree that our Teachers have worked admirably under very difficult circumstances. I still can’t imagine the lesson retention of a five year old staring into a Chromebook can equate with classroom learning. 2020 and into 2021 have been relatively disastrous for public school children for development, education, and socialization. I have no doubt the studies pertaining to trauma will embrace the COVID-19 virus with tremendous enthusiasm.
A glimmer of hope is now appearing on the horizon for everyone forced to pivot. As schools seek to resume regular classroom schedules, faculty and staff will be armed with their Clorox Wipes and Lysol. It seems like a good plan, but is it? Not really, no. The time spent disinfecting desks, common spaces, lockers, etc… will add exponentially to labor costs. The products being used are NOT persistent disinfectants. What does that mean? It means that provided the cleaner is applied correctly in the first place, once it dries, it’s susceptible to re-contamination immediately. All those pathogens will settle right back in. If anyone has taken a look at the majority of our schools air filtration systems, we don’t need to be Nostradamus to predict what the odds are people will continue to be at risk.
Add to that the health risk for children with Asthma, or any respiratory condition, and you’re setting the stage for some very unhappy parents. Is there a solution? We’re glad you asked! Yes, OSS has a unique completely non-toxic surface adherent treatment, which can protect all surfaces for between 90 – 365 days depending on the solution applied. Our products don’t chemically ‘kill’ anything. We’ve harnessed nano-sword technology in a new way, so that cells are punctured and destroyed without the fumes, constant applications, or eventual pathogen resistance build up to other chemical kill cleaners. We’re working with Roger Williams University, Portsmouth Abbey School and others to make sure their hallowed halls are safe for their most important task – learning. Contact us to learn more.
And be on the lookout for a MAJOR announcement coming from us in connection with the EPA in April. Stay safe out there!
