It’s hard to believe we’re already at the end of January. 2021 has certainly started off with a bang! We have a new President, a new Governor, a new vaccine which looks promising, and so much more. One thing I think we can all agree on is that 2020 changed the way we do business, seemingly forever. Will things ever revert back to ‘normal’? It doesn’t seem likely. But we learned that above all, human beings can adapt to a multitude of changes to our everyday routines. Mask wearing, social distancing, Igloo dining, it almost seems as if it were always the case.
As many of you know, OSS created our own proprietary Igloo, designed specifically to withstand the New England winter. Right now, there’s about 70 out in ‘the wild’ and more on their way. We’ve been really happy we can help so many businesses remain open. But with that, comes tremendous responsibility. One thing we take very seriously is Fire-safety. Our team worked with the RI State Fire Marshal to identify, and test, the right commercial grade materials.
OSS Igloos pass the ‘Level 2’ NFPA fire test, and we’re only one of two companies producing fully commercially compliant igloos nationally. The other company is Florida based Garden Igloo. The cheap, and definitely flimsy competitor’s igloos that have surfaced in a few places? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they are NOT approved for commercial use. This means take them home and put them in your backyard, because they cannot legally be at your business.
It’s important as consumers and patrons you recognize the risks of combining unapproved, flammable materials with Propane and electric heaters. Please make sure to ask your local establishments who have igloos to provide the proof of fire-safety. We may be in a pandemic, but that’s even more reason to do it right. Stay safe everyone!
