If anyone had told me four months ago, I’d be leaving my consulting job to launch a startup company in two weeks time, I’d have laughed and said it was impossible. Not only is it possible, it was necessary, after watching the early debilitating impact COVID19 has had on Rhode Island and Massachusetts. To that end, Ocean State Shields was born with a critical mission to achieve for the community.

The first iteration was a simple polycarbonate panel, which seemed effective enough. That was a good idea, but we needed to take it a step further. The solution was clear in forming an official partnership with our friends at CT based SD Labs. Their line of innovative antimicrobial surface adherents were EXACTLY what the Ocean State needed.

Unlike other options, we just do it better, and for a lot less than our clients expect! Not only can we do custom interior fit-ups and installation of treated protective barriers, our team uses electrostatic sprayers to apply SDPro to every surface in your facility – which protects it for up to a year before reapplication is needed. Finally, we’re offering curated treated PPE and some cool items you’d likely never knew you needed. (Trust us, you do. This is a hint to go check out our products page ). Because entrepreneurs tend to be innovation turbines? The team is getting our first proprietary product to prototype right now. We’ll keep you posted.

And what a team we’ve put together! In record time, we’ve grown from three to nine rockstars, without whom NONE of this would be possible. Be on the lookout for their bios coming soon, but OSS is only happening because of: My incredible Cofounder and Innovation Genius, Todd Thomas. Jessica Thomas is leading Environmental Impact. Heading up Strategy and Revenue Growth? Phillip Jacobson and Jerry Schiano. Our resident Engineer and Prototype guru, Charlie Hill. William Munnerlyn, global citizen and MBA, is tackling Operations and Content. Mollie O’Brien is a Marketing superstar and managing all of our now rapidly growing social media. Michael Richard is doubling down on sales and business dev. I can’t thank them enough for jumping onto this CRAZY rollercoaster of a ride. It takes a certain amount of moxie to hang with this crowd.

I’ll call it a wrap here, but will be posting weekly blogs to update everyone on who’s on deck, who we’re hiring for, and what giveaways etc… we’ll be doing. School’s headed back soon for better or for worse. OSS will be announcing a new promotion this week which is perfect for students.

Stay safe, and more importantly, rock on. We’ve got you covered.
